Black-and-White Books

[Back]

The Books Factory offer is also aimed at customers interested in projects printed in black or grayscale. We encourage you to explore our offer in detail — we will gladly help with both small and large print runs.

Which black-and-white printing technologies do we use?

Economical mono printing

At Books Factory, you can order black-and-white book editions produced with the highest level of care. For this purpose, we use economical mono printing technology (high-speed inkjet) designed for publications consisting of:

  • black text,
  • simple black illustrations and graphics with varying grayscale levels.

Economical mono printing is suitable for publications where highly accurate graphic detail reproduction is not the priority (e.g. simple charts or diagrams). It is an ideal solution for projects without large solid ink areas and strong contrasts. This technology is suitable exclusively for uncoated papers and becomes cost-effective already for print runs of several hundred copies.

Standard printing

We also offer black-and-white book printing using standard technology (electrophotography 1+1). This is an ideal solution for projects containing large numbers of demanding graphics, such as albums, comics or reproductions of old black-and-white photographs. Standard black-and-white printing is distinguished by high optical density. This technology can be used on all papers available at Books Factory.

Mixed printing

Thanks to the flexibility of digital printing, a book does not need to be entirely black-and-white. We offer mixed printing (4+1), allowing several or even dozens of full-colour pages to be included within the book block (e.g. photo or map inserts), while maintaining economical printing costs for the remaining pages.

How many black-and-white pages should a project contain?

Our digital printing company can produce publications consisting of both black-and-white and colour pages. It is worth noting that we define a black-and-white page as both text-only pages and pages containing grayscale illustrations.

Please also note that:

  • projects can be produced using different paper types,
  • the same object printed on black-and-white and colour pages may have slightly different tones.

Project pricing can be checked using the calculators available on our publishing product pages.

Which printing option should you choose?

Not sure which printing technology is best suited to your project?

Choose:

  • economical mono printing — if the book mainly contains text (novels, guides, reports) with optional simple charts,
  • standard printing (1+1) — if the publication contains demanding graphics (comics, albums with old photographs, artistic catalogues), where deep blacks and precise tonal transitions are essential.

We are a digital printing company specialising in professional black-and-white book production. Our team remains at your disposal and will gladly answer all your questions.
